Me & My Movie
Inspiring children to tell tall stories
The BAFTA Nominated "YouTube for kids" used an online voting system to help Blue Peter pick their Movie Mansion winner!

A cross-platform collaboration between Bloc, BBC Learning, Children’s Interactive (CBBCi) and CBBC Television, with BAFTA as external partner, the Me & My Movie site is the centre of an integrated campaign which seeks to inspire and develop film making, narration and editing skills in children aged 7-12 years.

The two main campaign objectives were:

• To maximise participation in the campaign – and get more young people talking about and making films

• To achieve higher visibility of the CBBC brand in the film and User Generated Content (UGC) world with this audience and to show kids that the BBC is a film focused community, for them.

Dubbed “YouTube for Kids”, the Me & My Movie site offers the CBBC audience the chance to learn about the film-making and story-telling process in a feature packed, 3D virtual world full of friendly characters, help and advice to encourage children to learn and play.

Working with film and educational professionals, we created an immersive and highly engaging interactive world for children to explore. The website teaches children about the filmmaking process, showcases their work and inspires and supports them through a large and vibrant collaborative community.

The website, which has attracted a very large audience and amassed thousands of film submissions,  achieved a BAFTA Nomination at the Children’s BAFTAs and was awarded the Best Interactive Production and Production of the Year awards at the Learning on Screen Swards.

Sadly, the site is no longer online, but the video at the top of this page gives you a flavour of the work.
